An Example of How It Works
Anthony Cummins never went to war nor wore the uniform, but his life was touched by a man who did. Billy Woody was a Vietnam veteran and Anthony's neighbor. When Billy got sick and landed in the hospital with lung problems, Anthony began visiting Billy every Saturday, determined to make the most of whatever time his dear friend had left.
Billy passed away, but his legacy lives on. In tribute, Anthony makes monthly donations to the VFW in memory of Billy and has even included the VFW in his will.
"The government cannot or will not do enough, and these people need help," said Anthony. "I give for the ones who gave their lives, or years of their lives, for this country. I give for Billy."
